Loss of saltmarsh threatens climate progress, says report
The world’s saltmarshes are disappearing three times faster than forests, threatening global progress on climate change goals, according to a major new report co-led by UKCEH. But it adds recovery resulting in major gains is in reach.

Several threats to woodlands require tailored solutions
UK woodlands are threatened by land management, climate change, diseases and deer –with vegetation responding differently, requiring tailored action is to protect biodiversity. That is the finding of surveys of broadleaf woodlands over the past 50 years by UKCEH.
Integrating rewilding and farming for nature recovery
Scientists including James Bullock of UKCEH have put forward a blueprint for integrating nature recovery and farming. It involves setting aside at least 20% of agricultural landscapes for rewilding and adopting wildlife friendly practices on remaining farmland.
